Police are appealing for a witness who might hold key information about the death of an 87 year old woman to come forward.
AdvertisementDorothy Sumner broke her hip after the bus she was on collided with a car on Church Street and later died in hospital from pneumonia on Friday 23 March.
Now police are looking to speak to one of Mrs Sumner’s fellow passengers on the bus.
PC Paul Royale from the Road Policing Unit said: “I am particularly keen to speak to one person especially who we believe was sat at the front of the bus at the time of the collision. Unfortunately, the only description we have is of a young woman who had with her a fold-up push bike.
“I would appeal to this lady to get in touch with us as we believe she may have witnessed the collision and therefore, might have some information that would be useful to us.”
The collision between the bus and a Vauxhall Corsa took place on Wednesday 7 March.
Mrs Sumner, who was from the Ribbleton area of the city, was also known to many by her maiden name of Unsworth.
Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation should contact Lancashire Police on 101.
