Katherine Jenkins to sing at Preston Guild’s Proms in the Park

Welsh opera star Katherine Jenkins will perform with José Carreras at the Proms in the Park in September.

Katherine, who has sold seven million records worldwide, will prepare for her appearance at the event after finishing runner-up on popular US talent show Dancing with the Stars. Hers is the latest big name attached to the event, which is expected to attract thousands to Avenham Park on 7 September.

Proms in the Park is part of the Preston Guild celebrations, and the two hour open-air concert will be the highlight of the Guild Week.

Speaking to the Lancasire Evening Post, Katherine said:  “I’m really looking forward to taking to the stage with José at Preston Proms. It’s the first time we’ve performed together on stage and I cannot wait. I hope fans are as excited as I am.”

Chris Haylett, producer of the event, said: “It’s a world exclusive and amazing for the people of Preston.

“Katherine and José are both at the top of their profession and we can expect some great stuff.

“They will sing their own repertoires, they will be duetting and finishing with fireworks.

“It promises to be something very special.”

Tickets, priced at £65, will go on sale from 10am on Tuesday 29th May until 5pm on Wednesday 30th May for people living in Preston area PR1 to PR5 postcodes, and can be purchased from the Guild Hall box office or by calling 0845 344 2012.
