A popular free running event will be coming to Preston next weekend.

Park Run, an international running group, organises free to run events has been given the go ahead by Preston City Council.

The first run will take place at 9am on Saturday 12th March in Avenham Park and continue weekly after that.

Blog Preston reported on the plan to start Park Runs in February and how Fulwood resident Michael Ash-McMahon is bringing the Park Run to Preston.

He said: “There has been so much hard work and enthusiasm for our event that has only been made possible by the fantastic number of volunteers, of which there are too many to mention,

“Avenham and Miller Park and a number of other local organisations. Its great to know we have all helped get Preston on the parkrun map and it will be even better to see a mass of parkrunners at the starting point at 9am on the 12th May and every Saturday thereafter.”

To take part in Park Run you need to sign up via the Park Run website, it is free and you must sign up by 6pm on the Friday before.
