A tearful wife has paid tribute to a “wonderful husband” who was killed while cycling around the Broughton roundabout last night.
Paul Fingleton, from Preston, died after a collision with a Citroen Relay van while going south on the A6 at 7.15pm on Monday 14 May.
Mr Fingleton, 47, received serious head injuries and passed away at Royal Preston Hospital shortly after the incident.
Ann Fingleton and their daughter Hannah said they were devastated by the incident.
In a short statement Mrs Fingleton said: “Hannah and I are completely devastated to have lost Paul so suddenly. Paul was a wonderful husband and father.
“He was at the heart of everything that we have ever done as a family and we will miss him terribly.”
The A6 was closed for two hours last night while police collected evidence from the scene.
Preston Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident to come forward.
Sergeant Dave Hogarth from the Force Road Policing Unit said: “We know there were people that stopped at the scene to help prior to police arrival and I would urge these individuals and any witnesses to the collision to come forward and speak with police.”
Anyone with any information should call Lancashire Police on 101.
