Below is the latest post in our series of Q&As with election candidates standing to be councillors in Preston.
The election takes place on Thursday 3 May 2012 and we’ve emailed this list of questions or posted it through every candidate’s door so you can find out what’s beyond the name on the ballot paper and what they will do for your local area if elected.
Full name? Terry Cartwright
Party? Independent
Ward? Deepdale
Occupation? Semi-retired
What are the key issues for your ward? Policing, crime, fear of crime, social, economic, cleansing and highway issues.
If you were elected, how would you keep your constituents informed? As I do at the moment, by walking round and talking to all sections of the community. Not just at election times.
Anything else to add? I have served as a councillor for Deepdale ward for 18 years and have always gone out of my way to help in any way I can. Deepdale ward is a very diverse ward and I deal with everyone on a personal level. It has taken many years to gain the confidence and trust of residents which is something I have built up over the years.
