Here are this week’s offerings for the Preston Photo Digest, collecting the best photographs of Preston on a weekly basis.
All of these images have been compiled from the Preston Flickr Group, but if you’ve got a photograph that you think deserves to be included, get in touch at joseph(@)blogpreston.co.uk.
I’ll also be updating and including a map of Preston (you can see it at the bottom of this post) which I’ll pin all the photographs to. By the end of the year we should have a fairly extensive photo map of Preston collated from the best photographs.
This week we have an archive special for you, with three great black and white photos that shine a light on Preston’s past. First is this photo from 1967, which shows a steam train pulling into Preston station:
Next in our archive roundup is a closer look at one of the firemen on a steam engine, a great slice of history.
Finally in this week’s digest, we have a shot from the 1980s, which shows some firemen dealing with a fire at Stocks Bridge Mill. Unfortunately they don’t look as dapper these days.
As usual you can take a look through the photo map below to see a collection of all the photos used in previous photo digests pinned to their location in the city.
