Imagine sipping wine, enjoying good Spanish-style food and having a lively discussion with friends about books you have read. Bliss? Well you need go no further than the Deli-Med cafe in Preston to enjoy evenings such as this. My friend and I stumbled upon it accidentally about two years ago and it has been a firm favourite of ours ever since – with the book club being the icing on the cake.
The book club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6.30 at the cafe on Winckley Street, a delightfully quaint cobbled street in the heart of the city centre.
We chat over wine, a delicious 2-course meal and coffee, discussing the book we read the previous month. Conversation and opinions are varied and sometimes heated, but always very thought provoking and well-received.
Recently we have read such books as ‘Afterwards’ by Rosamund Lupton, ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ by John le Carre and ‘Noughts and Crosses’ by Malorie Blackman. For March’s meeting we have chosen ‘My Dear I Wanted To Tell You’ by Louisa Young.
If you fancy getting a copy and reading it, why not join us next month and let us know what you thought of it? We’re a small, friendly group who would love to have new members.
