Today is International Women’s Day, a day dedicated to celebrate and raise awareness of women’s rights around the world.
Started in the early 1900s and celebrated annually thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements.
There are several events happening Preston related to the day:
Preston Council are hosting an event which begins at 11am this morning and includes talks by many women who live and work in the local community. Find out more here.
If you’re a student, UCLan are showing a screening of Made In Dagenham, a film that documents the 1968 Ford sewing machinists strike where female workers walked out to protest against sexual discrimination.
