BIBA Awards aiming to find the best in Preston business

The winners at the 2011 BIBA Awards

Businesses across Preston are set to battle it out with other firms across Lancashire in the annual BIBA awards.


The Be Inspired Business Awards 2012 are organised by the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and it gives businesses a great chance to raise their profile.

Last year’s glitzy event saw Danbro accountants pick up the business of the year award, Kirsty Henshaw of Dragon’s Den fame went home with entrepreneur of the year and Philip McIvor from Farmhouse Biscuits was granted the lifetime achievement award.

Entry into the awards is free and application forms are available from the BIBA website. Applications must be received by Friday 30th March.

The awards ceremony takes place on August 31st on Avenham Park as part of the Official Preston Guild Business Ball.

Categories include:

– Business of the year
– Business woman of the year
– Change for growth
– Creative business of the year
– eBusiness of the year
– Employer of the year
– Entrepreneur of the year
– Excellence in customer service
– Exporter of the year
– Green business of the year
– Leadership team of the year
– Manufacturer of the year
– New business of the year
– Retailer of the year
– Small business of the year

Mark Whittle, from Preston’s Business Improvement District, said this year’s would be bigger and better.

He said: “We’re in the final stages of seeking applications from businesses in Lancashire for the BIBAs 2012. Quite simply the “one they all want to win”, and the biggest business gig in Preston for a generation.

“This year’s entries look set to exceed last year’s but we’re working hard to ensure that Preston companies really fly the flag for city.”

Individual tickets are £130+VAT (minimum two tickets per organisation) and tables of ten are available for £1,200+VAT.
