Owners of horses in and around Preston are being advised to take security measures by police.

A special Preston Horse Watch takes place next month for horses and trailers to be marked.

The event at Fulwood Riding Stables will give free tack marking and crime prevention advice from the Lea and Cottam neighbourhood policing team.

PCSO John Holland said the event was part of the Preston Horse Watch initiative.

He said: “The event has been organised as part of the work we are doing with Preston Horse watch, a scheme which aims to get horse owners and riders working together and improve their security.

“Anyone with an interest in horses is welcome – you don’t have to own a horse yourself or be a member of Preston Horse Watch.

“We’re looking forward to the event and to sharing relevant information and advice to visitors.”

The event takes place from 11am on Sunday 4th March at the stables on Sandyforth Lane.

Information and advice from Oakhill Veterinary Centre will be available, as well as money off vouchers for equine goods.
