Hello boys and girls. I want to say Happy New Year but I think I’m a little late. Now everyone has a few pennies and has recovered from the most drunken two weeks of the year it’s time to get back in to the swing of things.

First of all a bit of promotion for a good cause, some lovely people of the Adelphi (the yellow looking one) are holding a charity night for “Cash For Kids” on Tuesday 7th February from 7.30pm.  Good old fashion drunkness with karaoke, prize draws and raffles. Drinks will be from £1.50 and all they are asking is for a donation on the door.

This is for an amazing local charity that does a world of good so get on down and show support in the local area.

Beats of Rage is returning for its first outing of 2012. Sadly EXIT is still closed for renovations but there is another venue. Now not everyone is a giant fan of this place and many of us have only ended up in there when its the last place selling at 3am in the morning after staggering out of other clubs, yes, The Old Dog.

The late licence pub is opening its doors till from 9pm till 4am but I do not see it getting busy till 2am apart from the usual Beats of Rage crowd.  The Facebook event has promised to turn back time and will be  putting as much effort as they did in the begining at little house and basement parties.  I am personally looking forward to this alot, some lovely DnB, Dub and tech from the guys who do it best.

It takes place on Saturday 11th February and is £3 all night.

Now it is February and we know what that means, Pancake Day. Oh, and that little “holiday” known as Valentines Day.

Now there are a few events happening either single, in a relationship or other.

Fans of brain cell killing ITV Saturday night TV can take part in a Preston version of Take Me Out.

53 Degrees are getting you a date on Valentine’s Day by having their own version of Take Me Out, there are a few days left to apply but even if you don’t get to play the part of a Romeo just going down and watching is sure to be a laugh,  especially if someone you know is taking part. Those cheesy lines take brains you know.

It’s free to get in and takes place on Tuesday 14th February.

As every year the famous Warehouse Masquerade Ball will be happening with prizes of the year and 6 months free entry to the winners of best fancy dress. That’s also on Wednesday 14th February, for £2 before 11pm and £4 after,

Now there is also the Where’s Mavis Valentines Day Ball the same night at Roper. Cheap drinks and giant heated beer garden and Russ and friends playing all your requests from heavy metal to emo favourites.

Now music news. If you have read my past blog’s you may have noticed I’m a little bit in love with the boys of Population Four. Sadly the boys have parted ways but all on good terms.

Just before Christmas the guys played an amazing last gig at Rampage @RoperHall.  The crowd loved every minute of it and I can say I’m stupidly proud of all of them. But no fear I know there are other good things to come for a few of these guys inthe future and best of luck to Si the drummer currently touring with Laura White, the husky voiced lady from X Factor.

The music scene in Preston is still alive people and we have yet another rock night to look forward to. RagnaROCK is being held at RUMES on Church Street.  If you are not a fan of the Valentine’s Day mush here’s one for you.

RagnaROCK are having an anti-Valentines Day night yet another fancy dress night. If I’m honest I’m not sure what fancy dress for “ant-valentines” is? Cupid with one of his arrows though his head maybe?

Bands, cheap drinks and massive dance floor to get your mosh on, maybe if you’re lucky enough to remember the days of Where’s Mavis at Aqua or PR1 you’ll remember how many pits happened there. It’s on Thursday 16th February, £3 before 11pm and £5 after.

So there you have it, keep showing your support for local music and events and give me a shout on Twitter if you know of any local gigs or events we should be featuring.
