The ‘Preston Now and Then’ collection has been put together by local photographer Bernie Blackburn and Blog Preston is pleased to announce it will be supporting the exhibition by becoming the projects latest official sponsor.

Bernie has been reshooting Preston scenes from years-gone-by and splicing together the old and the new to create a unique collection of images that highlight the changing face of the city.

Blog Preston has featured several of Bernie’s images which have been very popular with our followers.

Bernie said: “As a fan and avid follower of Blog Preston, I’m delighted to have them onboard and their support will help to cover the costs of staging the exhibition. The ‘Preston Now and Then’ exhibition is a celebration of Preston’s past and present and the whole collection will be on show for the people of Preston as part of this year’s Guild celebrations.

“Blog Preston is the latest addition to a growing list of sponsors that include Preston Digital Archive, Conlon Construction and Chris Miller Ltd. Without local backing this project would not have been possible so I’d like to thank everyone who’s helped out with sponsorship and support.”

Blog Preston was set up in 2009 to help bring community news to the city of Preston, and founder Ed Walker says helping a project like Bernie’s was a no-brainer.

He said: “Bernie’s photos are superb and we wanted to do something to make sure his passion was rewarded by getting it out to a larger audience.

“His photos will delight people of all ages as they really give a feel for what it was like in previous decades in Preston.”

The exhibition will open in May and be shown across two city centre venues which will be announced shortly.

‘Preston Now and Then’ is still looking for further supporters, to find out more about becoming a project sponsor email Bernie at bernieblac@yahoo.com
