Giant TV screens will be placed around the city for the 2012 Preston Guild.
AdvertisementThe screens will be part of major festivals and events throughout the Guild, and will also be part of pop-up events taking place across the city.
The screens have been funded by local solicitors Forbes.
Managing partner of Forbes Preston, Winston Hood, said they were delighted to be sponsoring the screens.
He said: “Forbes is already actively involved in a wide range of sporting and community projects in the Preston area and the Guild is a perfect opportunity to extend this commitment. It is fantastic for us to be involved in such an historic event,” said Winston, who is Preston born-and-bred and was also appointed a Guild Burgess at the last Guild in 1992.”
Leader of Preston City Council Peter Rankin, who last week said the council would be adding an extra £2m in Guild funding, welcomed the sponsorship.
He said: “Forbes is a well-known local company which is renowned for its community involvement, so we are delighted to have its support for the Guild 2012 celebrations.
“We are gathering increasing support from the area’s businesses to help create the biggest and best Guild yet, but there is still plenty of opportunity for companies to do their bit and get involved. We have a wide variety of sponsorship packages to suit all manner of needs and our team will be happy to discuss any individual requirements.”
Coun Rankin called on businesses to sponsor more events and said the Preston Guild website had details of all the options available.
