These photos show the former Whittingham Mental Asylum from above.

David Gaskell captured these photos during a flight over the city and surrounding countryside.

The Whittingham site is due to be developed into housing but a planning battle has been running for a number of years above the site.

One of Blog Preston’s most popular posts was from Perki about an urban exploration of Whittingham complete with photos from inside the complex.

We also interviewed Lawrence Butterfield who used to work at Whittingham during the late 1980s.
