Crime Roundup 26/08/11 – £20,000 of cannabis seized

Police have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of over £20,000 was after raiding a flat in Ashton.

A warrant was executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act at the first floor property on Hull Street on the afternoon of Sunday 21 August. 16 mature plants that were ready to harvest were seized, along with 36 smaller cannabis plants.

Lea Inspector Dave Brown said: “This is another example of us working with communities to tackle their concerns.

“We carried out this warrant as a result of information we received from residents. We do act on all intelligence relating to drugs and I would urge communities to continue to tell us about any suspicious activity”.

Leaflets were handed out to residents in the area after the raids to let them know why there had been police activity in the area.

A 39 year old man has been reported for summons for producing a controlled class B drug.

 

Police have issued a CCTV image and are appealing for information after an assault at a bar in Preston City Centre.

At around 1am on Sunday 14 August, a 23 year old man was the victim of an assault in Manyana’s café bar on Church Street.

The victim was in the bar on a night out with a friend when he was approached by a man and hit in the face with a glass bottle resulting in him requiring stitches to his face.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the bar at the time to come forward if they saw anything or have any information that could help.

Detectives have also released an image of a man (above) they wish to speak to in connection with the incident and are appealing for anyone who may recognise him to come forward.

Detective Inspector Dave McKenna of Preston CID said, “This was a nasty assault and I would urge anyone who thinks they may have any information that could help with our investigation to come forward and contact us”.
