Preston North End will hope to bounce back against Cardiff at Deepdale this afternoon.
AdvertisementAfter a poor performance against Millwall on Saturday PNE know they are down if they lose and Crystal Palace win.
On the other hand if North End win and results go their way they will be just two points short of safety.
PNE will have their work cut out against the side sitting third in the Championship who could go second with a win.
The Bluebirds are currently on a seven match unbeaten run and haven’t lost against the bottom three this season.
Cardiff’s international strikeforce of Craig Bellamy and Jay Boothroyd will be boosted by the return of Michael Chopra and Jon Parkin meaning PNE’s defence will have to be at their best.
The Beast is still PNE’s joint second highest scorer in the league after leaving the club in January and could come back to haunt his former club.
North End will be missing Bongani Khumalo after he picked up an injury at the weekend and will have to turn to 18 year old Bailey Wright unless Sean St Ledger or Leon Cort can prove their fitness.
PNE’s home form has been good recently with the Lilywhites winning their last three games at Deepdale.
Cardiff have struggled at Deepdale, losing 3-0 and 6-0 on their last two visits and PNE will be hoping for more of the same this afternoon.
