With the Lancashire International Film Festival set to kick off on Friday, I thought it’d be nice to gather together some people engaged in filmmaking in Preston in the form of a special film podcast.
I spoke to Ric Michael, the organiser of LIFE, the second Lancashire Film Festival which runs between 8th – 10th April. Ric had a lot to say about the expansion of the festival to encompass more venues, as well as general comments about the film scene in Preston.
Edward Rastelli-Lewis is a student at the University of Central Lancashire. I spoke to him about the project he’s currently involved in; ‘Needle in the Hay’, the first feature film entirely produced by a group of undergraduate students. Look out for screenings of it in the months to come.
Finally I went along to Sync, a monthly event for filmmakers held at the New Continental. I spoke to members of Filmonik, a collective who seek to encourage newcomers to filmmaking as well as experimentation and Sam Pratt, who is primarily involved in event and viral videos.
Don’t forget you can get free tickets for LIFE by signing up at the website. Hope you enjoy the podcast.
