A couple of weeks ago, Rachel Tarlan, a freelance designer and illustrator based in Manchester, tweeted this:

Can anyone recommend the best place to get fish and chips in Preston, I think a chippy tea is on the cards tonight @blogpreston perhaps?less than a minute ago via Echofon

Mindful of getting Rachel to a good chippy, I set about asking some of our community on Twitter what their favourites were. The response was good, as you can see below.

@blogpreston @racheltarlan Happy Haddock, although Cod’s Gift on NHL is getting better and better.less than a minute ago via Seesmic for iPhone

@racheltarlan good one in town is the chippy on lune street. If not, Andreas on Liverpool Road in Penwortham is good 🙂less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

@blogpreston Tulketh Chippy for the chips, King Kod for batter scraps 😀 om nom nomless than a minute ago via TwitBird

@blogpreston Bill and Bens on Skeffington Road. It’s not my local but worth the trip!less than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone

To that end, I’ve put all the suggestions and a couple more on a Google Map for anyone to edit. Add your own favourite chippies to the map by clicking the link below the map and pinpointing them with the chips icon.

Next time someone’s in dire need of chips, mushy peas and scraps they’ll know where to go!
