Restaurant review: EastZEast

EastZEast

Ventured to EastZEast last night for a friend’s birthday meal. The traditional Punjab cuisine and  modern interior is obviously a big hit with fellow Prestonians as the place was packed.

The staff were very efficient and attentive, although the place was rammed we only had a short wait for our table. The menu is extensive but not so overwhelming as to get confused. Each dish is clearly described and labelled with one, two or three chillies, so no spicy surprises for those who prefer something mild and vice versa. Not wishing to roll out of the restaurant, as there were birthday drinks post meal, we skipped starters and went straight to the mains. I opted for Machli Tandoori which was fresh cod, lightly marinated in spices and fresh herbs, and cooked in clay oven. It was served with pilau rice and masala chickpea sauce. The fish came sizzling on a bed of onions and tasted as good as it looked, with the rice and sauce it was just the right amount of food and at £9.95 well priced. The birthday girl opted for Karahi Tiger King Prawn Makhani, a creamy dish similar to a korma in appearance it comprised of marinated tiger prawns grilled and cooked with tomatoes, pistachio, almond and spices for £12.95 and pilau rice £2.95. The restaurant also boasts an excellent choice of wines and drinks, with bottled beers at £3.50 each a good selection of non-alcoholic cocktails starting at £4.50. Delicious food, fast and efficient service and a popular Saturday night choice. Booking recommended.
