Preston’s parks will be host to plenty of green-fingered fun to keep the kids entertained this half term.
The ranger service will be tidying up the beautiful woodland at Larches wood with their spring clean, including path mulching and pond cleaning, and are inviting the community join in. 10am -12 pm, on Tuesday 16th February. Meet on Larches Lane.
At Grange Park and Fishwick Nature reserve visitors are invited to make either a bird or bat box to put up in a park or to take home. There are two bird and bat box making sessions on Saturday 20th February: 10am to 12pm in Grange Park, meeting at the Interpretation Centre, and 2pm to 3.30pm at the Fishwick local nature reserve, meeting at the Fishwick recreation ground car park.
There will also be the chance to help the birds in Haslam Park survive the end of the winter by making a bird feeder, and to make boxes for the owls living on Moor Park. With the rangers on hand to tell all about the owls, it is sure to be a hoot! The Haslam park bird-feeders event will be held on the Wednesday 17th February, starting at 12pm and finishing at 2pm. The Moor park owl boxes event will take place on Thursday 18th, and will start at 1pm and finish at 3pm. Meet at the Ranger Pavilion on Moor Park.
