Starting the Ribble Steam Railway‘s 2010 season in fine style is a Winter Steam Gala on Feb 6th & 7th featuring four engines in steam over two full days.
The star of the weekend is an ex- Great Western locomotive 5643 which is visiting Preston for the first time ever. The Ribble Steam Railway is run entirely by volunteers and you can visit the workshops to see out latest projects, learn about the History of Preston Dock and follow the Mr Ribble Trail around the museum building whilst learning about Engines & Railways. A visit to the site will not only give you the opportunity to travel along the1½ mile dock and riverside line, but also access to the newly built museum and workshop. The line itself crosses the Preston Marina entrance via a swing bridge, and runs alongside the diverted River Ribble on the site of the former sprawling docklands.
The Admission price (which includes the cost of all train rides) is £5-50 Adult / £3-50 Child & Concessions / £15-00 Family (2Adults + 2Children).
