Lancashire County Council are floating big green light bulbs around, a bit gimmicky, but there’s £5,000 in it if you’ve got a business idea that has legs.Advertisement
The Council’s ‘Give It A Go‘ initiative aims to get people thinking of business ideas that benefit their community and there is money to help get it off the ground.
The Council’s website states:
Give it a Go is a new competition to encourage teams of three or more to try their hand at developing an enterprising idea. We know that Lancashire is bustling with brilliance – we just want to help you flick the switch and make the light bulb shine. We’re looking for ideas that will make a difference to the lives of those who take part and the communities in which they live.
We’re looking for bright ideas in Lancashire that can benefit our communities. And we’re ready to back the best in your district with £5k to help turn that idea into a reality. Transform your idea into the best in the county and you can win a further £20k to build on your success.
Anyone can apply for the fund, as long as you’re over 14, applying in a group of three or more and live in Lancashire. The competition is split into two stages, the first being a district round where five districts can award up to £5,000. The district winners then go through to the county final where the winner takes home an extra £20,000 to help their business idea.
Entries must be completed by 12 NOON on Friday 8th January 2010. You can apply online or download an application pack and do it by post.
