The volunteers at Ribble Steam Railway on Preston’s Docklands have arranged a special timetable featuring three locomotives in steam and in different combinations for the Annual Steam Gala on September 12th & 13th.
AdvertisementAs well as the line’s stalwarts ‘John Howe’ and ‘Walkden’ they have a very special visiting engine.
Ribble Steam Railway press officer, Chris Mills, explained: “‘Cumbria’ a Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0 is owned by the Furness Railway Trust and has never run on any other line than the Lakeside line near Windermere, so this will be a great photographic opportunity and a chance to welcome their society members who are moving to join us in Preston.”
The timetable for the weekend Gala includes demonstration freight trains as well as six passenger trains each day featuring Double Heading and mixed combinations featuring all three locomotives. One special train will feature both Austerities ‘Walkden’ and ‘Cumbria’ double heading. This only happens once each day.
Mills added: “We are charging the normal entry prices and tickets are valid all day giving fantastic value. We also have an extra feature in the main museum of Steam Train Simulations on Computers as UK Train Sim present the latest in technology for the railway enthusiast.”
The full timetable is available and the event runs from 10.30 AM to 5.30 PM each day.
