Preston has a variety of annual special events that get better year on year.
Residents of Preston take part in celebrating the culture of our city and visitors always get a chance to see why Preston is something to celebrate.
The city is very special throughout the year. At Easter the city hosts the annual Easter Egg rolling extravaganza.
Rolling Easter eggs down the hills of Avenham Park has been a tradition in the city of Preston for many years.
This event includes traditional fairground rides, nature trails and carriage rides, along with live bands and theatre shows.
Starting from summer 2014 will be a new summer festival, which is set to be one of the legacies left by Preston Guild 2012.
This will be a weekend long multi-cultural World Festival. It will celebrate the diverse communities of the city and build on the community spirit experienced during the Guild celebrations.
Another annual event is the Riversway festival which usually takes place in July. This festival brings our city marina to life providing music, dance and entertainment across the weekend.
Activities include boat trips around the dock, police search and rescue boats and jet ski displays. Street Theatre hosts a range of stalls offering something for everyone, along with a fully stocked bar for usual festival go-ers. And on top of that, it’s free.
Run Preston is an annual event in the city, which usually sees over 1,500 runners of all ages and abilities taking part. First, there is a 2k fun run, and then the main 10k run, taking runners through the city centre, around Avenham Park, and across the river. The public is always welcome to watch this event, cheering on all the runners taking part.
As you can see, Preston is a city that offers a lot of variety. These events are never less than popular and there is so much more on offer. You shouldn’t miss out.
