The organiser of a party in Kirham has been issued with a £10,000 fixed penalty notice by police after breaching Covid-19 regulations.
AdvertisementOfficers received reports of the breach at around 7.20pm last night (Saturday 12 September). When they visited the address in the Dowbridge area of Kirkham, officers found around 45 people in a marquee with a live band playing.
The news comes just days after Deputy Chief Constable Terry Woods warned of stiff consequences for those who break the restrictions in place to control Covid-19.
In a Facebook post, Fylde Police said it had been a busy weekend across Lancashire, with numerous reports of breaches.
The post went on to say: “We would just like to reiterate that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and the rules are there to stop the spread of the virus and to keep everybody safe. We want things to go back to normal just as much as you.
“Though our approach has always been to engage with people to explain the rules, and we don’t take enforcement action lightly, we will issue fines for non-compliance where necessary.”
