United Utilities say: “Our inspectors are still on site moving water around our network to bring supplies back to most of our customers.
“We also have a number of our ‘Water on Wheels’ tankers in the area pumping water into the mains to restore supplies.
“Due to the size of the water main affected, repairs are likely to be quite complex and so you may find that your water supply/ pressure fluctuates throughout the day.
“We do understand that this is inconvenient and we are really sorry for any issues you may experience.”
The water supply was put back on during Tuesday afternoon.
