Fire at former Fishwick church triggers investigation

A derelict church in Fishwick has been targeted by arsonists.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the former St Teresas in Church Row on Sunday (27 May) evening.

Two fire engines were called out from Preston fire station to tackle the fire.

No one was hurt in the fire at around 6pm and the cause is under investigation.

In April last year plans were unveiled to demolish the church and in its place build a specialist care home.

Exemplar Health has permission to build the 30-bed care home and it is due to create between 80 to 90 jobs.
