Armed police were out in Preston city centre on Saturday afternoon after reports of a man with a handgun.

The incident around 3pm saw a man threatening a number of other men with a gun.

Firearms officers from Lancashire Police arrived at the scene, near Avenham Park, and the man was detained.

A BB gun was recovered from the scene.

A spokesman for the police said: “Potential consequences are obvious but few know these circumstances may result in an arrest.”
