CCTV picture of woman released after smartphone theft

Police have released the picture of a woman they want to speak to following the theft of a smartphone from a mini supermarket in Preston.

A 61-year-old woman was waiting in a checkout queue at Tesco Express in Blackpool Road, Ashton-on-Ribble.

She was approached from behind and a black Moto G smartphone was removed from her handbag during the incident on 20 February at 6.15pm.

The CCTV picture has been released by Preston Police following the incident.

PC Paul Goulding said: We are appealing for information following the theft of a mobile phone.

“We are particularly keen to identify this woman and believe someone knows who she is.

“If you can assist with our enquiries, call us immediately.”
