UCLan lecturer, Mohamed Parker, has been shortlisted in British Muslim Awards

A lecturer from UCLan has finalised for a national education award.

Mohamed Parker, Principle Lecturer fromĀ the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise, has secured a place as a finalist in the British Muslim Awards.

He has finalised in theĀ Services to Education category, which acknowledges the achievements of people who showcase valuable work and innovation across British classrooms.

Mohamed, originally from Cape Town, South Africa, came to the UK in 2002 to study at UCLan.

After completing his degree in BA (hons) Accounting and Business, Mohamed joined the University as an academic.

Mohamed Parker said: “I was very surprised but also really thrilled when I found out that I was one of the finalists.

“Having worked at UCLan for almost 10 years, itā€™s great to see all of my hard work paying off and Iā€™m really looking forward to the awards ceremony at the end of the month.”

The British Muslim Awards, organised by Oceanic Consulting, are now in their sixth year.

The awards aim to recognise a wide range of achievements, covering various aspects of society including business, charity, sport, arts and culture.

A spokesperson for the British Muslim Awards said: “Mohamed Parker has been nominated by members of the public who think he deserves to receive an award and must be recognised for his achievements.

“Oceanic Consulting would like to congratulate Mohamed for his nomination and wish him good luck at the ceremony.”

The prestigious awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 31 January at the Bradford Hotel in Bradford.

The evening will celebrate and showcase the determination, hard work, personal and commercial achievements of the British Muslim community.
