Man taken to hospital after crash at Preston Docks

A driver is in hospital after a number of vehicles were involved in a crash at Preston Docks on Friday (12 January) morning.

Preston Police closed one lane of Riversway (A583) near the junction with Pedders Lane shortly after 9am.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue service sent two crews from Preston and one from Penwortham to the incident.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to take the roof of one of the vehicles and release the driver.

A man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

Firefighters were on the scene in Ashton-on-Ribble for around 40 minutes.

Cars involved included a blue Volvo, a black Nissan, a blue Mercedes, a silver Peugeot and a blue Volkswagen.

The road was fully re-opened shortly after 10am.
