Andrew, from Grimsargh, decided to loose weight after seeing photo’s of himself at a fancy dress party, and decided to download the ‘My Fitness Pal’ app and started calorie counting.

This made him realise how he was neglecting his diet and what alternatives he could have instead of higher calorie foods.

Andrew Watson before his weight loss journey

Andrew said: “My family tend to get together on a Sunday and each year for about three years, whilst watching the marathon, my niece asked me if I’ll do it with her.

“Each year I told her that if she starts running, we will apply and she never stated running, until this year!

“We started that weekend and applied in April -We didn’t get a ballot place so applied to a few charities.

“I received a call from Sense to ask if I’d run for their charity.

“I’d applied to Sense for a number of reasons; I’ve a family history of deafness, my dad and grandparents are deaf and I grew up spending time with the patients on the deaf unit at Whittingham Hospital.

“I’m deaf myself, have some deaf friends and I’ve worked myself supporting adults who are deaf with additional needs.

“Sense do some amazing work with people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments and complex needs.

“They work with people of all ages, essentially trying to ensure they are as included in society as possible.

“I would really appreciate even the smallest donation and I know that Sense would be equally appreciative.”
