A Tarleton-based cat and kitten charity is hosting an Ed Sheeran fundraiser night this Saturday (4 November) to raise “much needed” funds to look after more than 100 animals, including around 70 cats/ kittens and 30 ex-battery chickens.

Noahs Ark Rescue and Sanctuary, based in Tarleton, look after many different types of animals, including cats, kittens, geese, chickens and dogs – many of which have been seriously ill in the past, and provide respite or care for those that wouldn’t otherwise be able to be rehoused. Without government or lottery funding, Noahs Ark Rescue and Sanctuary relies on local donations of food and money, and frequently host popular fundraising events across the city.

Speaking to Blog Preston, Noahs Ark founder Julie Bell said:”We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome some of the most abused or neglected cats in the North West.

“We offer sanctuary to cats with brain damage, 3 legs, 1 eye, blind or behavioural issues, and many other complications that may otherwise mean that these beautiful cats have to be put to sleep elsewhere.

“We have a long waiting list of cats with different issues that need our help. We’re having to self-fund a 200ft outdoor enclosure to facilitate for the heartbreaking demand.”

Amongst the cats in care at Noahs Ark include a cat with permanent brain damage, a kitten with a permanently-shut jaw, cats whose elderly owners have recently died, and a cat who lost her foot at a young age. Many of the cats in their care can be rehomed, however some are too ill to be given new homes, and receive permanent sanctuary space within their home.

Tickets cost £15 and include a hotpot/ butter pie supper and dessert, as well as the Ed Sheeran tribute and illusionist’s performances, with all proceeds going to maintain the charity. Bookings can be made by contacting Noahs Ark by phone (07803 905975) by emailing: noahsarkrescue44@hotmail.co.uk, or on the door at Tarleton Bowling Club. A Facebook event page has also been created.

Doors open at 7pm on Saturday 4 November at Tarleton Bowling Club (PR4 6UY).
