It’s part of a nationwide campaign running across all 16,000 Slimming World groups in the UK and Ireland called ‘Believe… in a Slimming World Christmas – Let The Magic Begin’.

The aim of the campaign is to help the 900,000 members in the organisation enjoy their healthiest Christmas ever.

The Lea Slimming World group runs every Thursday at St Christopher’s Church.

Louise McGuinness, who runs the Lea group, said: “Christmas is a magical time of year and the weeks running up to it are often full of fun celebrations.

“If you’re feeling unhappy with your weight though, it can also be a very challenging time – from hating the way you look in every party outfit to feeling uncomfortable and out of place at events.

“And, if you’ve already embarked on your journey, you might worry that the busy run-up to Christmas, temptations of the next few months, and the cold weather that often means we’re less inclined to be active, could derail your weight-loss campaign and you’ll end up reaching January struggling even more with your weight.

“However, we know that by sharing ideas and keeping each other motivated every week in our groups, members can stay on track and achieve their goals.

“The Slimming World campaign aims to show everyone that when they believe in themselves, have the right tools and get great support it’s possible to stay focused and lose weight beautifully whatever the time of year.

“Members won’t have to miss out on the magic of the season either.

“Each week in our group we’ll share recipes, advice and ideas for coping with potential challenges, from Christmas parties to shopping trips, and help one another to enjoy the fun of the festive season while still achieving our dreams.

“We’ve all made Christmas wishes that we’ve love to achieve by December 25th and we’re feeling super-motivated to make those dreams come true.

“By making great choices, anyone could easily be a stone – or even two – lighter by January 2018 – and wouldn’t that be the best present to get this Christmas!”

Much of the food at the Lea Slimming World group’s party came from Slimming World’s brand-new Comfort Collection recipe book.

If you’d like to join the Lea group on their seasonal slim down, you still can.

Anyone who signs up to 12 weeks of Slimming World support between Monday 9 – Saturday 28 October will get two weeks free (12 for the price of 10) and a free copy of Comfort Collection, which is packed full of delicious wintery dishes perfect for the colder weather and worth £4.95.

The Lea Slimming World group is held every Thursday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm at St Christopher’s Church.

New members can simply pop along or call Louise on 07828225824 and email for more information.
