The Fishergate plinth claimed a BMW as its latest victim this morning (September 12).
AdvertisementThe vehicle, like many before, was spotted stranded at around 10.28am outside Richer Sounds where Church Street meets Lancaster Road.
The shared-space road layout has caused a number of problems for drivers and this is far from the first driver to be caught out by one of the plinths.
There are currently no plans to change the road layouts, although lampposts have been removed from the plinths after drivers found it difficult to pass.
Highways manager for Lancashire County Council Daniel Herbert said: “We are aware of this incident involving the lamppost plinth and are currently looking into it. Some work will need be carried out for safety reasons, and then we’ll put together a plan to put the plinth and the lamppost back in.”
More: Fishergate bollard makes its return
It comes one day after the Fishergate Bollard returned to the area where Fishergate meets Corporation Street.
The bollard has inspired a Twitter account which takes the concrete pillar into the digital world.
The county council’s cabinet is meeting this week to decide whether to reintroduce the controversial bus lane into Fishergate.
