Homeowners in Ashton-on-Ribble and Lea have been woken by loud bangs in the night and workmen during the last few months.

The piling work is happening from 11.45pm on Saturday 29 July through to 10am on Sunday 30 July.

Network Rail has been heavily criticised for not consulting earlier with residents in the area – holding its consultation meeting after the work started and not giving advance notice of when work takes place.

A poster released about the work states: “We will make every effort to keep noise to a minimum and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
