Market Hall car park incident sees roads closed off

Police put a cordon in place on key Preston city centre roads due to someone threatening to jump from a city car park.

Ringway was shut between North Road and Market Street West due to the incident at the Market Hall multi-storey.

Access was also shut off in Lawson Street and Lancaster Road around 7.15pm. Pedestrian access to the area was also restricted.

Preston Police were called due to the concern for welfare of a person on the car park roof.

The incident was resolved around 7.45pm on Wednesday (26 July).

No one was hurt in the incident and all roads have now reopened to traffic.

The car park is due to be demolished as part of the £50million Preston Markets regeneration scheme.
