Woman rescued from house fire in Ashton

Fire crews were scrambled to reports of a woman being trapped in a house in Ashton-on-Ribble.

Three fire engines from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service responded to the 999 call at Fairfield Drive off Blackpool Road.

The incident on Tuesday (13 June) saw a woman trapped in a bedroom and unable to escape.

The fire was in the kitchen and fire crews managed to bring her out uninjured.

A second woman had already escaped from the house and was suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke.

Firefighters said the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

The fire took place shortly before 8pm.
