A charity ‘superstore’ in Preston has re-opened following a temporary period of closure.

There’s a new way to shop too – St Catherine’s Hospice says you can buy a bag and pay £10 for whatever you can fill it with.

Based in the Guild trading estate off Fletcher Road, Deepdale, the superstore has rails of clothes along with a large selection of pre-owned furniture.

The hospice originally opened the superstore in February but was forced to temporarily use it for storage due to an influx of items at its charity shops across Lancashire.

Head of trading at St Catherine’s Rachel Hewitt said: “We’re delighted to be launching the new-look Superstore which we’re billing as the ultimate charity shop experience – with clothes, accessories, toys and furniture all under one roof.

“Our Buy a Bag offer is perfect for avid charity shoppers who love a good rummage, as well as those on the hunt for high street and quality brands for the bargain price of £10 a bag.

“We’re sure shoppers will be impressed with how much they can fit inside – from ball gowns to handbags and everything in between. So whether you’re in need of a quick fix wardrobe overhaul, or are on the hunt for a capsule holiday wardrobe for the whole family, St Catherine’s Buy a Bag could be the answer.”

A couple of bargain hunters have already been in, mum-to-be Zoe Sneddon, 27, from Penwortham, visited when the shop reopened on Monday 12 June.

She said: “I don’t want to spend a lot on maternity clothes that I won’t be wearing for long, so I thought the Buy a Bag offer was brilliant! I’m stocking up on things in larger sizes to see me through pregnancy, without spending a fortune. I think it’s a great idea and the store looks really good.”

John Porter called in and ended up going away with several framed prints for his son.

He said: “He has just bought a big house in London so has lots of empty wall space which needs filling. The Superstore is great value and I’m really pleased the proceeds will help the work of the hospice which is so important.”
