‘High value theft’ at jewellers in Preston city centre

Police want to speak with two people following a theft at a jewellers in Preston city centre yesterday (May 2).

A man and a woman entered Yates Thomas jewellers in Cheapside and approached staff asking to see some jewellery.

They then asked to see other items and, with the staff distracted, it is believed a chain was removed from its tray before the couple left the store.

Pete Danby, of Preston Police, said: “A man and woman entered the shop, approached staff and asked to see certain items of jewellery.

“Upon presenting them with the items they asked to see other items which distracted staff.

“In this time, a high value chain is believed to have been removed from the tray and hidden before the couple left the store.”
