Two people in hospital after Fishwick flat fire

Two people escaped from a fire at a flat in Fishwick during the early hours of Sunday morning.

A mother and daughter managed to flee the fire at a ground floor flat in Rutland Street.

Firefighters arrived from Preston and Penwortham fire stations to deal with the blaze at 1.14am on Sunday (9 April).

Four people were rescued from other flats by firefighters who used ladders to scale the property.

No cause has been given for how the fire started and an investigation has begun.

Six people were attended to by paramedics with two people requiring hospital treatment.

Electricity North West turned off the electricity to around 200 homes in the area while firefighters tackled the fire.
