A dog owner who found a nail hidden in a treat for four-legged friends has warned other canine owners.

Tracy Hollinshead was walking her dog in Ashton Park when the incident happened.

She’s reported the metal-strewn sausage to Preston Police following the incident on Sunday evening.

Ms Hollinshead was ‘furious’ when Ruby the Jack Russell had the piece of pork scratching in her mouth.

She said: “I am furious. Beware about this kind of behaviour. Who would do this?”

Ruby the Jack Russell-Heeler cross was unharmed by the nail.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police confirmed they had received a call about the rogue dog treats.
