DC Justin Singleton, of Preston CID, said: “This incident happened at a busy petrol station and was understandably terrifying for the cashier. He has been left extremely shaken and we are determined to find the person responsible.

“We would now like to identify the man in the CCTV images as part of our enquiries. He is thought to have very blue eyes which may be quite distinctive.

“We would also like to talk to anyone who was in the immediate vicinity of the petrol station at the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious.
