As the Calcutta Cup seniors prepare to face off in the Six Nations the Sunday afternoon fixture is a chance to see the talent of the future.

England coach Eddie Jones was recently in Preston to open the Hoppers new RFU-funded pitch.

RFU rugby development director Steve Grainger said: “It’s great to see the artificial grass pitch being utilised for an international fixture. This really shows the standard of the facilities available here in Preston.

The match is being sponsored by the University of Central Lancashire.

Chair of UCLan Sport David Grecic said: “We are delighted to sponsor this prestigious Junior Six Nations game at Preston Grasshoppers and see more international sporting events come to Preston.

“UCLan is a civic institution and we welcome opportunities to work with local partners on fantastic community events to support the development of the City and promote sport and physical activity to all.”

Grasshoppers general manager Richard Ellis said: “We are delighted to be hosting such an important international fixture here in Preston on behalf of the RFU. It’s another chance to showcase the fantastic new Artificial Grass Pitch here at Lightfoot Green. We are expecting a large crowd and urge anyone wishing to come to leave plenty of time to get parked and arrive at the ground.”

The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday (12 March).
