A section of a road in Preston city centre is to be shut to traffic for up to a fortnight.

Lancashire County Council say a depression has developed on the road.
The stretch from Lancaster Road to Guild Row is to be shut off from Monday (27 March) at 8am.

It only affects traffic leaving the city centre, the lane on the opposite side by the Minster remains open.
A spokesman said: “Engineers estimate that the work could take up to two weeks to complete. They hope to be able to finish sooner, however the first step will be to establish the cause of the issue.”

Bus firms have been notified of the closure and Preston Bus has issued the following information.
A spokesman said: “Services 5, 6, 8, 16, 19, and 280/X80 will be unable to serve their usual bus stops on Lancaster Road (and service 112 will be unable to serve stand J on Church Street).
“Passengers should use the Bus Station to board their services.”
A diversionary route is in place running from Lancaster Road, via Glovers Court, Syke Street, Avenham Lane and Manchester Road.
