The bus firm says fake deals and false special offers are being touted round Facebook.

A spokesman for Preston Bus said: It appears to be very trendy at the moment, this “Fake News” business, and Preston Bus is not immune to its affects.

It has come to our attention that a Facebook site is offering a discounted “special offer” on our tickets. The site is not run by, or affiliated in any way with Preston Bus. There is currently no competitions or special offers running ON Preston Bus tickets or passes.

“As always in these situations, if an offer looks too good to be true, it probably isn’t true, and clicking on links could leave your devices open to spam at the best, and viruses and scams at worst.

“Please be aware that any special offers, competitions or promotions run by Preston Bus will be accompanied by publicity on the Preston Bus Website, and other legitimate news outlets.”
