A school in Ribbleton has seen part of its playground cordoned off after a mysterious object appeared.
AdvertisementPreston Police were called to Ribbleton Avenue Junior School in Emerson Road on Tuesday (17 January).
Caretaker Mr Moran found a silver unexplained object on the field with a number of objects spread around it.
Emergency services were called and put up a cordon around the object which pupils at the school said contained a ‘red flashing light’.
Kim Vickruck, a teacher at the school, said they had also been visited by scientists wanting to inspect the object.
She said: “We kept away at first but the tests have been done and the object is not harmful.
“The children have been watching as the police and scientists run tests on the object to see what it is.
“We’re not sure ourselves on how it got there.”
Pupils at the school have been giving statements about the object.
One pupil Kieran said: “I think it could be from an alien. They crash landed on the playing field.”
Another Phoebe said: “There were scientists doing lots of tests and I think they are going to take it away to do more as well.”
Headteacher Mrs Jill Alexander-Steele said: “I was thankful that it crashed during the evening when there were no children around and that no one got hurt. I am intrigued to find out what it is and hope to receive a report from the police and scientists when they have finished their investigations.”
