One lane is closed near the M65 junction Pic: Highways England

A lane is closed on the M6 southbound near Preston due to a crane fire.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have been called to recover a mobile crane which has caught fire between Junction 30 (M61) and Junction 29 (M65).

One lane remains closed as traffic delays begin to build near the junction.

Smoke can be seen billowing across the motorway as firefighters bring the flames under control.

The fire started just before 7am on Tuesday (24 January).

Traffic is expected to return to normal by 9.15am.
