A Ribchester man has been charged in connection with the death of a pensioner near Preston.

The incident which saw an 80-year-old man from Longridge suffer serious injuries and die at the scene closed Preston Road in Alston in July.

Jack Byrne, 25, of Ribchester Road, Ribchester, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving , possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

He’s been bailed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on Thursday 26 January.

The crash happened closed to the White Bull pub and emergency services spent four hours on the scene as the crash was investigated.
