Firefighters continue investigation into fire which caused Preston flats evacuation

A block of flats was evacuated in Preston city centre due to a bin fire.

Firefighters from Penwortham and Bamber Bridge were called shortly before 3am on Saturday (17 December).

A two-storey block of flats in Queen Street was evacuated while the fire was put out in a large commercial bin.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was still under the investigation.

Residents from the flats were evacuated for around half an hour during the incident.
